WHO WE ARE
A lifetime eastern North Carolina resident, Kristen grew up in the coastal ICW town of Belhaven, North Carolina. Born into a family who has worked in the maritime industry “for forever” (since 1947 to be exact), she grew up on the docks of her family’s marina and boat yard, driving boats for as long as she can remember. Kristen earned an MBA and BBA in Trust & Financial Management and minor in Accounting from Campbell University. She has worked in the financial sector in both Credit Administration and Non-Profit Asset Management, but ultimately her coastal roots led her back to the marine industry. Kristen, along with her husband Lee Sykes, formed latitude 34 Insurance Group in September 2016 with the goal to provide the best maritime insurance on the market and the friendliest service. Kristen truly enjoys forming a personal relationship with each customer and providing them with impeccable service.
Kristen lives in Morehead City, NC with her husband Lee, daughter Charli. They are avid travelers and enjoy spending as much time as possible on the water.
Lee Sykes, a lifelong North Carolina native, has always had a love for the water. Lee grew up in Mount Olive NC but spent most every weekend in Carteret County, enjoying everything the coastal waters had to offer. An avid fisherman, you can find Lee anywhere from inland marshes chasing drum to offshore in the gulf stream. Lee is owner and founder of Atlantic Coast Marine Group, Inc., the operator and parent company of Atlantic Coast Marine Response and TowBoatUS licensee for eight ports throughout North Carolina and Virginia. ACMG was formed in 2010, and since its formation Lee has facilitated impressive growth and expansion, including consistently increasing TowBoatUS membership sales each year in business, and has ranked top TowBoatUS membership sales in all the U.S. for 5 consecutive years. Under Lee’s guidance, the company has expanded operations to include Environmental Clean-up services under its Atlantic Coast Marine Response division. His experience in the towing and salvage industry has greatly aided in him developing an immense understanding of the claims process.
Lee is a member of NC Coastal Conservation Association, past C-Port executive Board of Directors member, and a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. Lee, his wife and daughter reside in Morehead City NC.
